The Centre for Multi-party Democracy (CMD) has thrown its weight behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
In a press briefing yesterday, the CMD leadership asked the government to urgently implement the progressive aspects of the document.
The report was handed over to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga three weeks ago.
In a statement read by CMD chairperson Abshiro Halake, the non-governmental body said the government should, however, reveal more details about the extension of the term of the BBI team.
“The handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga restored peace and stability after the divisive 2017 General Election,” said Ms Halake (right).
“This is making democracy thrive.”
She continued: “We have critically reviewed the BBI report and engaged various stakeholders with the aim of identifying and amplifying constitutional, legal and administrative reforms in it that will be good for the people.”
