ODM leader Raila Odinga has said the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is what will liberate Kenyans from the yoke of poverty, disease and ignorance.
Mr. Odinga said the country needs serious transformation that will enable Kenyans to live as a peaceful and united nation.
“We have started the new year with new expectations. We have embarked on a new journey known as the BBI. We want to bring change in our country so that we find a way to help our people. Kenya has been independent for 56 years but our people still have the same problems from yesteryears,” he said.
The ODM leader lamented that it is unfortunate how Kenyans have continued to suffer over the years.
According to him, the main intention of the BBI is to transform Kenya from poverty to a middle income state.
He noted that if China was able to liberate over 300 million people from the same situation within 20 years, Kenya can also achieve the same.
“After the countrywide BBI meetings that kicked off in Kisii this week, we will continue cascading information to the grassroots to ensure all Kenyans understand the document properly ahead of the much-anticipated referendum,” Mr. Odinga added.
He was speaking during the burial of former Siaya County Council Chairman Cllr. Elisha Ojwang’ Orodo at Usenge village in Bondo constituency.
Leaders who accompanied him include James Orengo (Siaya Senator), James Okumbe (Siaya Deputy Governor) and MPs Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) and Samuel Atandi (Alego/Usonga)
